Current Employee - Senior Technical Lead in New York, NY

I have been working at Vitech Systems Group

Pros

* Solve really hard, complex technical and business problems
* Use fairly new technology
* Quick recognition for the best and brightest
* You get to work with some exceptionally bright technical guys
* Good compensation specially for the strongest performers
* Work in a company experiencing rapid growth
* Very flexible in terms of time-off, work-from-home, summer fridays, time-off and other tele-commuting arrangements

Cons

* Not for 9-5 types or clock-watchers
* Not for middle-level tech-managers or paper-pushers looking for a comfortable 'big-company' type job
* Hard for an average employee to get the big picture amidst the chaos of growth
* Work-life balance can be an issue

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Decentralize management to facilitate growth. Get people more invested in the company by being a bit more inclusive and communicative. Take some time out to be pro-active.

    Not a place someone would like to be at for a long time.

    Pros

    Good communication between teams. The projects they have are from big clients, so it gives employees a good exposure to succeed in the field. People find time for other activities besides the tight schedule, works as a team building event.

    Cons

    Bad work culture, bad salary, managers ask employees to work at night and also on weekends but you never get a compensatory off. Things are not very organized and planned. They should have better systems in place so that employees don't have to spend time doing things manually.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management should think about long term goals more than short term goals. Rather than thinking about short term expenses, if they would spend more on salaries and infrastructure in the office, it would increase the productivity, which will in turn increase the profits.

    Pros

    Great Product
    Great Colleges and Great technical brains across.
    Not much backstabbing or bitter politics like in bonus driven industries !!!!!
    Managment more liberal of late in terms of Work from home policies and work life balance

    Cons

    Project & People management is driven from an Reactive standpoint with no room for logic or understanding the root cause.The whole development effort estimation is based on some simpleton metrics with no thought or credit accounted for the complexity of the work.........They expect you to finish 2 tasks per day and the system does nt give any weightage about whether its a 2 minutes job or 2 days job or 2 weeks job !!!! People are forced to game the system else they will be blamed as too slow to finish the task !!!!!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Develop a thorough metrics system with proper weightage given to all the parameters with due credit to root cause analysis and not mere number playing.
