I have been working at Vocus full-time (More than a year)

Pros

The sales culture is outstanding, with average 10% commission paid on all revenue, quarterly bonuses and incentives constantly thrown at you - Barcelona, Vegas, Ibiza. Join at entry level and work hard and expect promotion with 9-12 months, then onwards every every 9-12 months. The office is in a great location in the City.

Cons

With every strong sales culture comes the need to own your results, this place is not for cruisers...

Advice to Management

Keep pushing the sales culture, the incentives, the job promotions.

I have been working at Vocus full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Solid benefits package, easy-going workplace, fun office, many young and interesting co-workers.

    Cons

Low pay, little company direction, few/no growth opportunities, poor communication across offices, not much innovation or new and interesting ideas circulating. Staff is far from the best and brightest.

    Advice to Management

Reward your talented staff -- put effort into identifying who's above average. You lose too many smart, hard-working people because you don't put in this effort. Set some standards and guidelines -- no one knows if they can expect raises or even what to do on a hurricane or snow day!

Good benefits, not really the place if you're a "cutting edge" software developer

    I worked at Vocus full-time

    Pros

Really good benefits and salary. Good hardware and MSDN subscription. Headquarters is really nice and has a LOT of amenities.

    Cons

This is not really the place if you want to work with new technologies and cutting edge things. You'll be working with a very large set of code that takes a long time to learn and is not well documented. A lot of the .NET code and Javascript is custom stuff. No jQuery. Little unit testing. Specs are kept in wiki docs and bug tracker and can be challenging to work with. Give it about a 3-4 on following best development practices.

    Advice to Management

Improve the design and development of products. Follow more best practices.
