Volt Information – “Good opportunity for new professional but not great benefits”

Pros

Volt gets the lion share of technical placements at Microsoft and provides excellent opportunities for newly minted professionals to get valuable experience. Pay is competitive.

Cons

The benefits package at Volt is not very good. Very little paid time off, no sick time, very limited health options. Pay starts well, but you will not get a raise during a contract; you must take the responsibility yourself to negotiate better compensation with each contract.

Advice to Senior Management

Almost every employer offers 2 weeks of paid vacation plus 8-10 days sick time per year. You offer *no* sick time and your equivalent to vacation (Longevity Bonus) requires 1500 work hours to earn a week's pay. At a 2000 hour average work year, this is significantly less than 2 weeks. Offer sick time and reduce the requirement for the longevity bonus to 1000 hours.
