Volunteers of America – “Support staff in a female 50 bed homeless shelter ran by felons on work release but still prison inmates”
Pros
trying to help make a difference in someones life.
Cons
Staff peers were felons on work release from NV prison, still prison inmates, who supervised 50
women who many were sentenced by the court to the homeless shelter for "structure" instead of incarcerating them in jail for illegal drug possession/consumption.
Staff: Non-professionalism, yelling, negative, stealing, drugs, non-communication, fighting.
Advice to Senior Management
Seek continued educational sources. Improve leadership and communication. Do not hire prison inmates to supervise convicts and drug addicts. Work closer with staff. Listen to employees. Learn
social counseling skills.
