Vought Aircraft – “Manufacturing Engineer - Vought Aircraft”
Pros
Vought was a "cool" place to work, as our work area consisted of huge aerostructres being produced and was quite impressive. The pay was average at best, and the hours were too long at times, but overall the people were very receptive to new hires and overall it was a comfortable place to work.
Cons
As a manufacturing engineer at Vought, you will have to do a lot of dirty work out on the floor. I actually like to get my hands dirty on the job, but they moved our workstations out to the production floor and it was so loud you couldn't even think much less work on anything detailed.
Advice to Senior Management
I would try and shift from a culture dominated by 50+ year old employees, to one that is more receptive to the up and coming generation. Also, it was typical for a new hire to sit in a cubicle next to someone with the same degree who had been in the same position for 30 years. That was a negative for the new generation to feel there was real growth potential at Vought.
