The Culture is a sales tactic and a weapon for those who lack leadership skill.

    Pros

The medical coverage is standard. The vacation time is standard. The shifts are easy to balance with home life. It is not back breaking work.

    Cons

Pay is just above the poverty line. Do not plan on moving up in the company. The culture is a tool mainly used to harm others and climb the short ladder to the glass sealing. Office politics are what you will spend a third of your day dealing doing. Leadership is in a different boat thats bigger and nicer then Bills vision. Leadership

    Advice to Management

Live the culture. Let people really use the culture. It is not a hammer to harm but a tool to help our boat stay afloat. Cut out the office politics and pay people better.

    Pros

    * Ability to find your own teams * Acceptance of people already there, seasoned individuals welcomed with open arms * Benefits are good * Work life balance, no one works that hard

    Cons

    * Leadership, Bill Gore designed plant leader role around his skills, current leaders are mixed bag of politicians and non technical folks * For a company that doesn't have titles, seem to worry a lot about titles (only they call them "commitments") * Work life balance, no works that hard * Nepotism is rampant * "all in same boat" dumbs down everyone (was not the original intention)

    Advice to Management

Stronger technical leadership, less nepotism (new hires have to be related to someone), more fairness in compensation.
