Still far behind...

I worked at W.W. Grainger

Pros

Great HQ with nice Cafe in Lake Forest
Work from home on Fridays

Cons

Treats Contractors like some 2nd class citizens. It's slightly common in corporate world but it goes an extra mile here...

No room for new ideas

Squeezing 40-50 people in one room in the name of AGILE

Far behind in IT methodologies and lack of knowledge in what is currently new in the market.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get better with treating employees/contractors and they would in turn do better things for company instead of looking for opportunities for jumping out of company.

I worked at W.W. Grainger part-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits and decent pay. Even with a GED you can work here. Great place if you are looking for a part time job.

    Cons

No real opportunity for growth. What they say at hire is a total lie. Company will never have your back, high chance of getting fire.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need to find better managers. There is not really a fare OPPORTUNITIES for GROWTH. Some of us have been here for over 10 years and is still a part timer. A lot of back stabbing and micromanagement. Mangers need people skill. Only reason I come into work now is because of my pst, if for not that I would have quit already.

I worked at W.W. Grainger full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Team is friendly. Customers like working with you.

    Cons

Fake Goals, they cant tell you how they are
made up. You can work hard for 6 months and do great, then they just increase your goal so you break even on the year. Management then acts like they dont know the deal and blame you. Very common.
