High focus on hourly employee retention, but very little for management.

    Cons

No training program for new managers.

Little to no development plan for managers.
    Systems are very outdated.
Building and furniture outdated and in disrepair
    Hardware is very outdated.
Poor evaluation process for employees and managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure new managers receive a training plan that is followed up on weekly. Allow managers to spend time in another facility to train alongside other managers. Implement a regular one-on-one meeting for managers and their senior manager. Update facilities appearance and equipment. Update computer systems and POS terminals. Improve managers evaluation process.

I worked at W.W. Grainger full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Training. Great support staff (Inside Sales). Great benefits. Well known National brand that customers know and rely on for great service/typical quick delivery of product. Schedule flexibility. If you manage your time well and produce, management leaves you alone. Good first sales job.

    Cons

Commission structure less than stellar. Structure was fair when I was hired. 3 years later they changed it. If you drive sales and exceed your quotas by a large margin, you should be rewarded for it. No longer.
