I have been working at WB&A Market Research part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Design your own weekly schedule, only a twelve hour minimum, can load on hours during busy projects, friendly staff. There is a diversity of co-workers there: people ranging in age from their teens to retirement; people come from many different backgrounds of life. Located in the heart of the commons, in the Center of Ithaca building. Flexible hours allow for other employment throughout the week.

    Cons

Strict time schedules, for example you must be punched in to the time clock exactly or before your shift begins, otherwise you lose your breaks. Also, calling out counts against you for bonus purposes. You can't talk to the people you are working next to while you are working, because it is a call center and everyone is talking on the phone. The feeling of isolation and omg-holy-capitalism-batman might creep up on you. The cubicles add to the sense of isolation. Dialing numbers gets repetitive and getting angry respondents on the phone is never fun.

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep your head up and have a sense of humor. If you can joke around with your coworkers and take the job with a light heart, you'll be fine. Crack jokes with your coworkers when you aren't on the phones. These precious moments of bonding will make the job worthwhile.

  2. Horrible Experience

    Pros

The money was decent for the type of work and you can make your own schedule. The location was close to home at the time.

    Cons

Verbal abuse from management and those being surveyed, humiliation tactics, quotas over quality, horrible call center management, outdated equipment, no room for growth, family life and health are of little importance. Company will dump you without good reason.

    Advice to Management

Don't treat your interviewers like garbage. They're on the front line.
