I have been working at Waddell & Reed as a contractor for more than 10 years

Pros

Self employed. Minimums are low/reasonable. Pay structure is excellent. They provide office and phone, copy machine and fax, receptionist and manager for a cut which saves me a lot of time but still gives me freedom to punch my own clock and build my practice.

Cons

Compliance. Very anal about Finra and never having a lawsuit. Sometimes poor managers that are not good leaders or trainers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Send EVERY manager to Circle. They need the relationship and exposure to W&R. So supid to leave them home and then expect them to bond with the culture.

Easy going environment. Build your own schedule. Unlimited earning potential. Great training programs about Financial Products. Professional environment.

Business is not for everyone. Internship does not teach you much, but provides an insight to everyday life as an advisor.

I worked at Waddell & Reed as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

You get an idea of how competitive and intense their work field is as they have to gain clients and sell in order to get paid through commission.

    Cons

Did not learn as much as I wanted to and the advisor did not spend much time with the interns.

    Doesn't Recommend
    No opinion of CEO
