Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest/budget for hiring more clinical employees or give current clinical employees a significant raise to compensate for the increased stress and level of competency needed to provide excellent patient care while working in an understaffed environment. Clinical employees at WakeMed's main campus should earn higher wages than employees at the smaller campuses to compensate for the significant increase in workload, job responsibilities, and time management skills necessary to thrive in a level-one trauma center environment.

I have been working at WakeMed Health and Hospitals

    Pros

They are really big on expanding, so there are ample opportunities to change jobs for a better fit if needed. There is an end of the year bonus if the company is doing well which is a percentage of your annual salary. They are really trying hard to make sure that they have the latest technology available for the staff to use.

    Cons

It is very difficult to find additional employment elsewhere since they are expanding so much. The management seems to have favorites and will even create positions for you if they really like you, and are very hard on those with whom they have personal issues with. Staff are worked alot harder than they should be in an attempt to save money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Add more staff to keep the burnout rate low among staff. Numbers are very deceiving when the abilities of the patient population is degrading.
