    Pros

opportunities galore, Sam Walton story inspirational, respect for work/life balance (at my stores anyway) Can be great buy-in from associates/managers with profit sharing - if your store is qualifying. Great things to learn from long term associates and there are lots of them. Great participation in green initiatives - for a big company....sometimes the clout of a big company can matter and make a difference. The cheer is not that bad, and can be downright fun.

    Cons

if you start low you stay low salary/wage wise. Still some very un-inspirational managers in the business. A little too much waste for most people's personal taste...all in the name of "fear of litigation" so the hungry and less privileged lose.

    Advice to Management

you lose great people when you stick to rules like - not promotable if you...eg: won't move, won't sign on to permanant overnight etc
    Not enough mentoring

  2. It was a short stint but extremely useful.

    Pros

One gets opportunity to work in different departments with a lot of room for personal growth. There are incredible opportunities to work in different functional area and career advancement.

    Cons

At times I also felt that, under certain circumstances, one's boss is ones biggest opportunity and biggest hindrance to ones growth. There needs to some be more all round feedback system in place.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up and take care of your employee.
