I have been working at Walgreens full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Walgreens is a National company and has very easy to understand policies and procedures. It is also very easy to transfer if a move to a new location is necessary.

Cons

Upper management does not always seem to understand what it is like to work at the store level.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management need to spend some actual time in the stores and equip the employees with the time and equipment needed to do the job as expected.

I worked at Walgreens part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

15% discount on most items, 20% on the Walgreens brand.
    Training in management and pharmacy.

    Cons

Small stores are like small towns, everyone knows almost all the gossip. Most employees are young high school age working around minimum wage.
Halloween is the worst holiday time to work. Kids destroy the aisles!
I became angry at snow storms because that means we have to mop the entire store throughout the day and one last time at the end of the night to keep all dirt tracks off the floor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't get involved in high school drama.

Former Employee - Store Clerk in Chicago, IL

I worked at Walgreens part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The pay for mostly menial, basic work was fair. The shifts and breaks were dependable.

    Cons

They cut essential staff hours making the work and customer service experience sub-par. The store managers have a massive work load since there aren't enough personel for each store.

    No opinion of CEO
