Current Employee - Area Manager in Palestine, TX

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Competitive Wages
Decent work schedule but is a hassle to ask for time off

Cons

Benefits are getting worse every year
Assistant General Manager and General Manager treat their management staff terrible. They only care about their pay check.
Over 20 managers have left th dc in the last year due to their poor leadership and being crooked.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Fire the General Manager, Assistant General Manager and HR Manager. Bring some one in that cares about their people. The union should be licking there lips to get into this dc.

Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Walmart

    Pros

Fellow employees have taught me a great deal about the industry and are a joy to work with. Good exercise too.

    Cons

The normal complaints, not enough benefits/pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Consider an increase in flexibility in terms of sick day policy. With worker performance increasing on average for the fifth year running it seems feasible.

I worked at Walmart full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Secure job if your not laid off which happens a lot in distribution centers.

    Cons

Work Environment, Work Conditions, Management, Nepotism, Work Load, Work Pace, Opendoor Policy does not mean anything anymore, Rules, Short breaks and lunches, Poor Equipment, Upper Management does not care about hourly associates and their work environments, incentive bonus doesn't amount to hardly anything anymore

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improve relationship with hourly associates, invest some of the billions in profit towards improving work environments, benefits, pay, and insurances.
