I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

The best features of the job are the employee discount, 401k, stock purchase program, flexibility, and other associates. Working at Walmart you will get to see how the worlds largest retailer operates, something that you can't get any ware else.

Cons

The biggest problem in Walmart would be training. It is something I know Walmart is working on but they have a long way to go. When I first became a Department Manager my training was "Here is your keys, go figure it out". They have started to change that but they have some work to do.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your associates, get back to the basics of what Walmart started as, and revamp your training programs.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Pretty good benefits, Pay was good, It has a good schedule format for management if they would stick to it.

    Cons

Micro-Managed by DM, some managers get away with doing what they want, they come in late leave early. Alot of back stabbing and getting thrown under the bus.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the paper pushing, working with metrics, make your budgets workable based on area and demographics. Stop building stores so close together and expect sales to stay the same or increase.

I worked at Walmart full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They were able to work with my availability. The managers were pretty nice and gave regular reviews and raises. I was hired as a cashier, but did a lot of stocking as well, which I liked. It helped the time pass.

    Cons

They are very strict, almost anal about you taking your breaks on time.
