I have been working at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

Pros

*Tasks are relatively simple to learn
*Better pay then fast food
*You get 30min-hour lunch depending on how long your shift is including one to two 15min breaks
*30% off discount card after three months of working there
*You get to meet a lot of people

Cons

*Seems like everyone is being hired as part-time or being demoted to part-time
*The customers. You'll never see so many POS that think you should be lucky to lick the grime off their boots. They'll usually be the ones to sour your day. Their word is valued over yours.
*Walmart seems to be a haven for kleptomaniacs and your bonuses are affected by how much shrinkage (loss) your store has.
*If you have a bad manager or fellow co-workers you will not enjoy this job. It's like High School all over again.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let your employees know that they're more valuable than the word of one angry customer. Find something...anything to help the managers lose that dead eye glaze that they seem to have. I know some must feel burned out and dissatisfied with their current jobs but to have so many formally nice employees turn into asses as managers means either a wizard is sucking out their souls or you need to send them on vacation. Happy managers = happy employees!

Never got above a 3.1 rating, where I never got below a 4 rating at other companies, even some 5's!

I worked at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Career Opportunities. Compensation & Benefits. Culture & Values.

    Cons

They keep you at just a little over a 3 rating, so that you don't get much of a raise! Due to a lower bonus, you can even end up with less pay than you made the year before! 44 hour work week! If you work 10 hours over, you only get 5 hours of comp time (50%).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to redo their rating system! Allow for many more deserved 4's and even a few more 5's! 40 hour work week! 100% comp time! Base salary should be at market level, not market level minus estimated bonus!

I worked at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

the only pro I can think of from that place was employee discount

    Cons

Too many managers telling you to perform contradictory tasks that another manager has asked of you.
If you get hurt on the job they will blame you for being incompetent and it being entirely your fault, even if it is their faulty equipment.
Treated like a second class citizen if you are hourly
"Breaks" are a joke, I was asked numerous times to clock off for break but come back and work while on it..which is against company policy.
It is very difficult to get them to schedule you around your school schedule.
    Favoritism runs rampant.
If you even mention the prospects of a union you are interrogated by management.
Most managers have such low IQ's it becomes a burden to productivity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make all stores honor the corporate policies and get rid of useless management.
