Current Employee - Sales Associate in Poulsbo, WA

I have been working at Walmart part-time (more than a year)

Pros

Ability to move to different appartments was excellent as well as being promoted to supervisor or assistant manager. There were many different and exciting technological things to learn that improved your work as an employee.

Cons

Pay was just average and increases were average as well. There wasn't much for recognition of good work and noticed many employees were not happy to be there at all.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

I would like to suggest hiring more individuals that are motivated to work there not just because they need a job but because they enjoy the work, they want to gain promotion and have shown they can work well on a team. Maybe a one or two day testing would be useful or job shadow to see if the job fits their talents.

I worked at Walmart part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay. Good benefits if they're only for yourself. I never had a problem with hours. Hard work is rewarded. Easy job to do over all. Company wide bonus. Holiday and Sunday pay. Discount. Chance to rise in the company.

    Cons

Rude customers. Management cares more about the customers than the employee safety. Unorganized. Managers always seemed stressed out. Unrealistic expectations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more open with your employees and listen to complaints and suggestions.

I worked at Walmart full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

If you're good, you'll get hours. Not too mention pay was above minimum wage, which was nice. Generally a fast paced environment, which lessens boredom. On top of that, if you work holidays they generally have food for everyone in the break room.

    Cons

Management sucks at micromanaging. Horrible relay of information from one to another. No one communicates with each other. If you have issues, they don't really care to listen. Not flexible with personal issues such as complicated pregnancy, maternity leave, etc.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach your CSM's, and other related management better management skills.
