I worked at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

Pay is steady, and if there is a problem, management wants it taken care of right away.

Cons

"People of Wal-Mart"
Advancing to store management from Associate ranks is difficult. It is partly because pay rate is lower for longer hours of work without breaks. Also, that it hardly happens. Wal-Mart trains outside individuals.
They continuously trim medical insurance benefits.
They do not hire full-time associates.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reestablish an entry level tier of full-time associates.
Advance hard charging Associates to Store Management.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Walmart has a strong culture and good people. With Walmart's scale, you have the opportunity to make a big impact.

    Cons

Because of the bigness of the organization, it can be hard to implement change. If you want to work in an agile environment, this might not be a good place for you. Some leaders let the scale of what they're responsible for go to their heads and act excessively self important. The culture is built around consensus, not rocking the boat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you foster an environment that can hear diverse voices or Walmart will stagnate.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Room for advancement if you can last long enough. Getting to help customers daily. Getting to train and develop others and watch them succeed.

    Cons

Limited help to achieve daily tasks. Wants to rollout new innovations without proper staffing making it difficult to follow the new innovations. Upper management makes the job out to be easy. Everything is on a scorecard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Spend money on wages instead of cutting them to get profit. If stores are staffed, we can gain profit through sales by assisting our customers and achieving better in stock levels.
