I worked at Walmart full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Worked o/n. Great starting job! hrs usually start you out 11:30pm-7am, full time 10:00pm-7am. 2010 it was $8.75 ($7.50 +$1.25 for o/n). After about 6 months of doing Stocking and ICS I finally got the actual "ICS position title" where I was given full time and a .20 raise. :) If you're not in shape before you will be afterward, unless you really don't do anything in which case u get what u give..

    Cons

Bad hours, little room for advancement opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Offers excessive hours if needed, thorough training when monitored, discounts, and an opportunity to purchase a miniscule portion of company stock that could in turn make money for you. As well as a variety of insurance and a payment plan with it's subsidiaries.

    Cons

Part-time workers are given excessive hours to work and not paid for the hours that were assigned as overtime, CSM at particular MD branches tend to haze new employees in hopes of them quitting. So much so that their Catonsville Branch has difficulty keeping cashiers. Employees often have a distasteful attitude towards the customer due to the disdain and drama going on amongst lower level employers and management. It's not a healthy environment for someone who looks for the wholesome work environment that Walmart promises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ZSM need to be on the floor more often as well as more frequent evaluations of CSM and overnight employees. Also, security needs to be more thoroughly assessed before hiring, being as though, in your Catonsville, MD location customers can walk out with large items such as air conditioners without receipt checks and even walk in with gas tanks through the front entrance being as though it's highly flammable.
