Pros

Pay. Donations to the community.

Cons

Quite a bit of hiring from outside. Lover management overworked.. "Buddies" promoted over qualified people. Little focus on associates treatment - as scorecards can be and are manipulated to companies benefit.

Advice to Management

Don't burn out your management team by making them put in extra hours while you take extra days off, extended lunches and go home early. Be an example. Be a little more objective when promoting - give people chances to prove themselves. For district managers, don't brush things under the rug for your store managers that other managers could get (and have gotten) fired for because they are your friend...it builds resentment.

    Pros

Opportunity to advance if you are willing to put in the time. Affordable health insurance Profit sharing, quarterly bonuses

    Cons

Pay could be better but comparable to other retailers Inconsistent management practice Overloaded Middle management and Hourly supervisors due to significantly reduced store hours

    Advice to Management

Upper management needs to experience a store setting every once in a while to see the effects of the policies they send down. Appreciate the people that work hard every day and make the store profitable.

  2. Great opportunity to gain managerial experience
