Pros

Walmart offers a broad range of opportunities and a good work-homelife balance when not told to work extra

Cons

As with all companies in a downturned economy, workload can get hectic and expectations increase with increased workload

Advice to Management

Keep the whole picture in mind when adding helpful tasks and tools and prioritize workload in conjunction with staffing allocations

    Pros

Stable job. Walmart isn't going anywhere.
It is very hard to get fired.
Generally a good work environment, unless you upset co-workers.
Holiday pay. If you don't work you're still payed. If you work you're payed double.

    Cons

When you do get 'those' customers, it sucks.
Your schedule is bound to fluctuate, it is unlikely you will have the same schedule each week; unless you are a department manager. (They choose when they work.)
Blackout days. It's retail, so you will never get vacation over Christmas. Black Friday til January is blackout.

    Advice to Management

Being friendly with associates like customers goes a long way.

  2. Working for Wal-Mart hasn't been a bad experience

    Pros

    Working with the public
    Nice Co-Workers
Decent hours if you make yourself available
At my store, a majority of the employees I came in contact with were polite and welcoming. The customers were great too and the experiences I had with customers and co-workers made my shifts enjoyable.

    Cons

    No discounts available upon hire
    Low pay
I wasn't really expecting to be paid much since this was my first real job, but for a company as big as Wal-Mart, I think they could afford to pay us more.
