I worked at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

Pros

They are a little more lenient than other employers with attendance, you get holiday pay for almost every holiday whether you work or not. The discount card takes a little off of your purchase (10%) , they have days where they provide lunch and last time I checked they had Christmas Parties! :) and I made a lot of friends.

Cons

Mediocre pay, the supervisors took a long time to respond to problems, you have to write a letter basically begging to keep your job if you have 2 or 3 write ups.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Entirely depends on your manager/director, but generally good work life balance and culture as well as benefits package. Northwest Arkansas is like living in Pleasantville, which can be great for families but probably not for those wanting a more cosmopolitan experience.

    Cons

They run lean....very lean. Headcount is constant issue, and within marketing there's a strong tendency to say "yes" to all special projects that come from the merchants without taking other projects off your plate. The speed of retail can create an environment where "fire drills" are a daily occurrence.
