Not enough hours

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at Walmart

Pros

The work was enjoyable, the co-workers and manager were great. Also, lunches were an hour which is actually enough time to go get food and come back.

Cons

I could never get as many hours as I wanted. They keep most of their employees at part time so they don't have to offer benifits.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

More full time job opportunities would be great, people can't live off of a part-time job.

I worked at Walmart full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The people that you work with are great and care for one another. The culture surrounding the company is good and a lot of people will do things to help one another.

    Cons

The hours are ridiculous and most management does not know what is going on. Management will give direction to other management with unrealistic time frames and unrealistic goals that are not attainable with the time given for notes.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    They need more people.

    Pros

    Learn Walmart Way
Ability to learn from suppliers and co-workers
    Work with high caliber people

    Cons

    Political environment
very MBA focused on education - not ability or expertise or experience
Diversity can be a plus or a negative

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look at the achievements of the people - not always the GPA or school - (not to say its not important) don't know very many Harvard grads that grew up shopping at Walmart, or shop at Walmart even after they came to work at Walmart Corporate. Need to relate to the Customer.
