Former Employee - Stocker in Renton, WA

I worked at Walmart part-time (More than a year)

Pros

It was hard for me to get work and was surprised that Walmart took me on.

Cons

What can I say. Pay wasn't the greatest - it was ok but I was treated as part of a team. It was easier for me to get another job after I left.

Advice to Management

Thanks.

    Advice to Management

Return to the lessons of the old days (Sam Walton days) Have people in departments who know the stock of their department well....are available to help customer shopping experience by their knowledge of product. This will reduce shrink by at least 50% and claims by at least 75%. Overstocking the shelves just makes the merchandise look junk as they do not fit on the rack and naturally end caps etc look very messy. Because the shelves are stocked in this manner one can only blame the customer for about 60% of an area needing zoning because the clothes is everywhere. or merchandise being all around the shelf. I also observed the customers little regard for the merchandise which seemed to stem from lack of customer service.....or no service as all employees are on a register. Perhaps if Walmart cared about their own store and kept it nicely zoned (not just exterior shelves) and had an expectation of the customer to act like a responsible courteous shopper that they would have that type of customer every day. Allowing kids to run , ride the bikes and scream at the top of their lungs does not provide a positive shopping environment for most adults, just the parents and their friends parents who are there to bargain the Walmart associate down on an already more then reduced item.
