Walmart – “Former management”

Pros

Started as just a job in the 80s and turned into a career. Great way to see different areas of the country for a young, single professional. Good exposure to a variety of projects, management roles and merchandising.

Cons

Company has become too corporate. The small town company built by Walton that encouraged people to think and make decisions no longer exists. Everything is monitored on "big brother" reports. There is little to no freedom to enjoy being a merchant.

Advice to Senior Management

Allow managers to manage. Too much emphasis on what have you done for me lately....look at the entire work history when making employment decisions.
No opinion of Mike Duke because I left organization as he took the reigns.
