I worked at Walmart

Pros

The benefits and bonuses make up for the somewhat hostile environment created by management, in an employee versus employee competition.

Cons

Managements tends to pit employees against each other in a constant competition over who "tattles" and brown noses the most.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

It would behoove you to treat employees more equally and ignore your human instinct to gravitate toward those who share you with praise and complaints about other employees.

Wal-Mart is a great company to work for but tends to take their top performers for granted

    I worked at Walmart

    Pros

Wal-Mart works on a scale that no other other company operates on. They move more data in a day than some companies move in a year or more. The same is true for their inventory.

Wal-Mart IS a large company but they TRY to keep the small town atmosphere at the Home Office.

    Cons

Wal-Mart is large enough that it's almost impossible for it to be a personable company. Their top performers are taken for granted and pay may be competitive for Northwest Arkansas but doesn't even try to compete on the national scale. NWA has the same cost of living as large as Dallas but salaries average much higher in Dallas than in Bentonville.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make compensation competitive on a national scale not just competitive against Tyson and JB Hunt.
Appreciate your top performers with both praise and monetary compensation.
