I have been working at Walmart full-time for more than 3 years

Pros

The individual store managers are good people with now real training. They are excepted to do so much with little help or support.

Cons

They are the bully on the block. Most corp. employees have lived in AR all of there lives. Walmart is the largest employer for the State. Which gives them full control over keeping everyone in line. Walmart lives by a different set of rules. Not what is fair or legal by the EEOC, Labor board or any government agency for that matter. They have a (20 plus) deep group of attorneys, to keep people stuck in the court system if they fight back. In addition, these practices go on with there vendor partners as well.

They are always spying on their employees thru blackberry's, lap tops, cameras, video and recordings located in home office as well as retail stores. They hire former FBI, Security Security ex-milatry people to uncover any problems with anyone, if they are falsely accused of a issue. Often they set them, to element them from the company, if need be.

92% of outside employees leave once their contracts are up with Walmart. The only people that stay are the people that live in AR. and have no where else to work. Horrible place to live and work. I can not wait until my contract is up, to leave myself. I personally Watched them destroy the careers of many people.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit lying to yourself about your scholarships for education for employees. You never had the funding for this but promote it. Your biz, benefits, ROI etc. (shareholder) numbers are false. You treat people very unfairly. Your marketing
group liquid really fights hard to make you look good. But the real truth always comes out.

I worked at Walmart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Gave me a shoe in for the retail business

    Cons

Employees are constantly made to do things that are NOT on their job description, NOT allowed overtime, employees are hired "temp" then fired usually before the hire/fire cut off date to cut down on company expenses due to obama care. Management is hostile towards workers who even mention the word "union", you can get fired for saying that word.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop with the high turn over, customers and employees need stability. An employee that has been with a company for a long period of time does a better job, due to knowing the company better. Customers like going into a store and seeing the same workers, who they build relationships with most times.

I have been working at Walmart part-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Networking with customers.
Meeting people and making new contacts
    Discounts
    Flexable hours

    Cons

The leadership could be better. They(store manager all the way down to loss prevention) look at you, smile and nothing is accomplished.
Lack of associate coverage on busy times.
Management, CSM's and corporate associates not standing behind employees when customers get upset when not gettting their way(why reward some with gift cards for embelishing circumstances?) on add matching or not being able to return a high price item bought from a competitor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

HIRE enough associates to run fifteen or more registers instead of five! The more lanes open will raise the amount of purchases to cover employee wages. If it works on Holidays then it will year round.
Salary should not be the same amount for every employee. More experience warrants more pay.( I have over 20 years of customer service--getting paid $7.90)
