Co-workers are my only reason for staying. Customers are obnoxious.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than an year)

Pros

You will meet some great people. Customers and co-workers both.
Plenty of room for growth because they are a lot of positions.
Good hours.

Cons

You get a lousy 40 cent raise once a year based on performance.
They love writing you up for every little thing.
Many customers are stupid, lazy, rude, obnoxious and complain to managers about you for nothing.
Depressing atmosphere.
So many customers just swarming the place, hard to get work done.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Well my advice to the store manager and corporate would be, HIRE MANAGERS WHO ACTUALLY KNOW HOW TO DO THEIR JOB.

I have been working at Walmart part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Very flexible schedule wise. Had no problems when it came to getting school days off, even as far as being allowed to show up to work late after a schedule mishap.

    Cons

Be prepared: As a Cashier you are obligated to do damn near anything. Juggling a register, customer service, money center and even cart pushing in one day is the norm for me. It seems rather than give you the position, management will be content with training you just to put you in the spot whenever they need you with no change in pay.
I find myself with barely any hours despite needing only two days off for school.

I have been working at Walmart full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Felt appreciated in the beginning, great opportunities to advance and earn better salary.

    Cons

After I became a Zone Merchandise Supervisor and they restructured everything I found myself doing my job and my managers job while they sat in the office all day. New people came in and the hard workers who deserved higher promotions were never considered. I saw a lot of people forced out of positions they were in so management could get the people they wanted in them. Inconsistent with enforcing policies. Almost every manager was two-faced and would be the source of any gossip throughout the store. As long as the salaried managers got their bonuses it didnt matter if hourly associate/supervisors got a bonus because instead of cutting expenses that weren't necessary they would pay outside people to come in and clean windows, and freezer doors, floors etc, when all the equipment needed and man power was already in the building.
