    Pros

Large high-profile projects looks great on resume

    Cons

-Career growth non-existent unless you have a good manager who will fight for you or you can talk the good talk - promotions not based on performance, i.e. negotiate well before signing on -Recognition saved for folks who are visible but not the folks who do the real work, i.e going back to point one, which is negotiate well before signing on, or your manager will get promoted, not you. -Certain individuals seemed to be on the fast management track and are promoted yearly, while others are not. -Tries to be 'in the valley' but most decisions are driven by Bentonville, AR, which is not known as the technological leader -Unable to compete and offer the same competitive benefits as other companies in the area -Health benefits are basic, days off for holidays are minimal. -Not flexible in how/where you get your work accomplished, doesn't like that people work remotely because they don't trust you. -FT staff are low in numbers, uses quite a few contractors and vendors. The contractors in my group are treated like FT people. -Supposedly open door policy, but human resource rep is involved in every step and really is a united front, no where to turn if you seek help with issue. -People are overloaded with projects but are not given enough resources to do the job correctly. -Releases are expected every week using the 'agile' process but groups are not aligned on goals and agile groups are shared. -Many managers are junior, but are put into positions of power and don't really understand what the worker bees are going through on a day-to-day basis. -Lots of people leaving in droves due to upper management inconsistencies, unrealistic project staffing and unrealistic deadlines. -Feedback is one way, there is no opportunity to address, only receive it. If you have negative feedback about someone, it's the first who reports it wins. -Hire like minds if you voice a differing opinion, you are ostracized

    Advice to Management

Treat your people with respect and embrace all things valley - benefits, flexibility Promote accordingly have a committee who reviews all promotions some people who work on the same projects get promoted for those project, but others do not. Have 360 feedback, managers need to know what they need to improve upon too. Hire outside your comfort zone, differing opinions make for great product
