I worked at Walmart eCommerce

Pros

Brand in retail and operations space is very good and can be leveraged well into your next job. There are some smart folks who are also great partners. If you want to coast, this could be a great place to work.

Cons

Bureaucracy, not innovative, poor benefits, have to weed through a lot of people to find the ones who care/are competent. The company seems stuck on its big wins from the 80s and 90s. The stock price has gone sideways during Lee Scott's tenure. What's going to be his legacy?

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The culture of innovation and risk-taking is gone. Bring that culture back!

    I worked at Walmart eCommerce

    Pros

Decent pay, really easy commute from San Francisco & generally really nice people. that's about it!

    Cons

it really feels like you are on an assembly line with no hope of ever working on anything different or challenging. there are also ambiguous rules of who gets a promotion to SR. Producer or not. It seems if you are a personal friend of upper management then you will get a promo; even if you are not as experienced as your counterpart.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

promote from within! give the interesting/ challenging work to your experienced UE team!! retain your employees!

I have been working at Walmart eCommerce

    Pros

There are a lot of friendly people. The CEO, Raul Vazquez, does seem to be a genuine, pleasant person.

    Cons

Management doesn't appear to care about employees or retaining quality people. Little promotion within the company. Management are often brought in from outside the company and then come in with big egos but little knowledge about how this company works and tend to have little respect for the existing employees. Benefits are so so. Very few days off (holidays follow the few holidays that store employees get). Senior management in Arkansas don't seem to appreciate the work that is being done on the website. There is a big cultural gap between the people in Arkansas and the Bay Area.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have some respect for your employees who have a great deal of experience and know how. Some positive feedback would be nice. All the negative feedback is demoralizing.
