I have been working at Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club
Pros – Benefits package good. Very close-knit "family" feeling. Managers (some) seem to genuinely care about their employees. With all things considered and a hotel being a 24/7/365 operating facility, there is a good balance of work/life. PTO system for time off offers a lot of flexibility with vacation times, especially during slow season.
Cons – Benefits package has taken a hit over the past couple years, no more 401k match, dry cleaning privileges taken away, pay freezes. Upper management can be very disconnected with mid-level managers and base line employees. It's an independent hotel so sometimes policies are changed at the convenience of the operation.
Advice to Senior Management – Connect more with your employees, they are the strength of the success of the hotel. Sporadic surveys aren't enough to get a true vibe on the morale of the staff.
