Washington Mutual – “Could be a great place to work again, if they can refocus on what they do best”
2 of 2 people found this helpfulPros
Salaries are generally competitive in industry and job field.
Generally positive corporate values and culture.
Good support of work/life balance.
Very good health/wealth benefits package.
Very generous vacation accrual, especially for non-exempt employees (10 hours/month for all employees).
Cons
Current market and company financial conditions make for uncertain job security.
Stated corporate values and culture not consistently practiced.
Constantly shifting product focus makes for unpredictable incentive structure for sales/commission employees.
Short Term Disability program is within industry norms, but not particularly compelling or generous.
NO parental leave offered.
Only 7 days of sick leave, use-or-lose in calendar year.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on growth of core business, particularly retail branches.
Hold managers accountable in reality (not just on paper) for day-to-day application of corporate values.
Constantly evaluate risk levels for long-term, not just immediate pocket-lining.
