I have been working at Waste Connections full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Full time year around work with benefits.I can only speak for my location and the one closest by and overall great place to work.Yes some employees complain of burn out due to running a lean crew which I have witnessed but if you can tough it out for at least 5 years you will be earning 3 weeks vacation after the 1st 5 years and 4 weeks after 10 years and 5 weeks after 20 years which is a definite Pro.Kind of hard to burn out if you spread your vacation time out right(a week off every 3 or 4 months + most weekends).

    Cons

Health care insurance is mediocre and a disadvantage to being out of the city is that insurance will only help with fitness club fee's from 2 different clubs that are only located in big cities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

expand insurance to cover more fitness clubs to help out our employees in rural counties. In Hood River we only have 2 clubs and they are not on the list, the closest club we qualify for is apx 64 miles one way.For a company that is self insured this is something that makes sense.
