Pros

The work you get at Wayfair is pretty simple. Its was a good entry level job after I graduated from a local college. There are some nice people in the engineering department and free snacks is a nice perk.

Cons

The work is very boring. The pay is not good. Senior management doesn't really care about people under them and it's very hard to even talk to them. The turnover rate is exceptionally high and you see people leaving all the time, but management doesn't really care and sees us as disposable. I don't see myself working here any longer, despite only being at Wayfair for a few months.

Care more about your employees.

Former Employee - Email Sales and Service Consultant in Ogden, UT

    Pros

No micromanaging as long as you are doing your job. Free snacks and coffee and a fun atmosphere for the most part. Good benefits for Utah.

    Cons

Dismal wage. They pay decent bonuses, but you MUST hit your bonus if you have any chance of actually paying your bills. Bonuses should be bonuses and not a wage, especially when they are based on quality which is completely subjective. Job can get boring, and there is no room for advancement. You are often expected to take on extra work and do new jobs with no extra pay. The software goes down a lot because it is very outdated, and they just keep bandaiding the problems rather than just investing the time and money to do it right and overhaul the entire system.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Why not give the sales and service people a livable wage and make the bonuses smaller? That way they would be actual bonuses. The base salary isn't even competitive with the other dozen or so call centers in the Ogden area. It is really discouraging to hear how much money the company is making but those of us that are on the front lines don't see any of it. Also, quit making people that were hired on to do email answer phones. There's a reason they are in email and not on the phones. Wake up an realize you are losing some really good employees due to salary and being forced to answer phones.

Current Employee - Site Merchandising in Boston, MA

    Pros

Company & Team Outings, Intramural Sports, Open opportunities to take on responsibility, Easy to transfer roles

    Cons

Bad salary, often take on responsibility without compensation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Update compensation to pay salaries that match roles - so that you will keep employees rather than serve as a company that people do not expect to work at for a long time.
