Pros

Good (and very friendly) people.
Great benefits (medical, dental, vision, etc.)
If you like weather, you'll like it for a while.

Cons

If you're on a bad schedule, expect to stay on it.
Little/no growth (personal, professional) opportunities.
No morale.
If you like weather, you'll like it until outside life (such as family commitments) begins to interfere.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some departments work better than others, and are better to their associates than others.

I worked at Weather Channel full-time

    Pros

-Some of the best and nicest people to work with
-Decent benefits but good work life balance
-If you're not after advancement and want stability, this is a place can be a long stay
    -Great brand

    Cons

-Top heavy management, lean on associates and supporting staff with many levels of senior management (too many VP+). Titles are one or two levels inflated over actual responsibilities.
-Behind the industry in digital advertising
-Not well positioned for long term sales and profitability objectives
-Limited career growth in the "go to grow" philosophy
    -Low employee morale
-Low level of accountability (which could be seen as a pro)
-Lack of industry and competitive intelligence

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

-While the goal is to sell the company in 2013/2014, the company is not positioned competitively for growth in the 4 - 6 yr time frame. It would be a better company if it were focused on realistic mid-term goals.
-Hire more support at the low - mid levels (Dir and below)
    -Communicate clear objectives
    -Hold employees accountable
-Build out operational strategy to support C-level strategy

I worked at Weather Channel full-time for more than a year

    Pros

salary was in line with market, strong work life balance, friendly colleagues

    Cons

lots of change at the top, lowering employee morale, high cost of benefits to employee, no clear direction of its market segment

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

begin to spend on off network marketing and original programming, turnover of employees is not due to dissatisfaction with company but rather due to poor management, review managers who have lots of employees leaving company
