Pros

1. The workers and customers are generally friendly people. 2. Pay is on average higher than similar jobs in the industry.

Cons

1. Non-performance based pay. (i.e.-people making the same money who have different responsibilities.) 2. Working hours are all over the place. Also, some departments allow their workers off occasional weekends while others don't at all. To get a Saturday or Sunday off can be a real pain.

Advice to Management

I feel management should spend a little more time getting to know the "pawns" of the company. They are the people in the direct line of fire and have much to offer the company.

    Pros

Advancement opportunities, Flexible hours, Competitive pay, Semi-annual pay raises, Scholarship program, Great benefits package (includes health insurance for part time employees), Working environment, Team/Family atmosphere, The level of competence and comradery between employees.

    Cons

Non-static scheduling, Unpredictable work load, Occasional under staffing issues, The bureaucracy and redundancy of the simplification system, Shifts with little down time between (closing, then opening a department).

    Advice to Management

The best advice I can give is to listen to your employees need to advance within the company. It may not always be best for them or for the department to grant it, but when you lend an ear to their desires they will be better employees for, because they will feel valued, appreciated, and heard.

    Pros

I would if I could think of any.

    Cons

Do not believe any of the hype you read or hear about Wegmans Markets. They opperate the same way Wal-Mart does. Full time status has to be earned. It does not matter how many years experiance you have or how qualified you are at your job you may work 15 years or more and never be anything more than part time. It is constantly push.push, push and the more you do the more they want, usually for minimum wage. Tehy are constantly on the Forbes list of best places to work. Where they get that information must be from coporate employees because you will never hear it from the peons themselves. You may be ina department where the Mother or Father is the boss of one of thier children and believe me favortisim is evident and you end up doing all the grunt work. The head of Human Resources at the store level can be someone who worked in the seafood department and has no training. It is ridiculous how they can try to brainwash the public into how wonderful they are. A pig dressed in a tuxedo is still a pig. Don't bother with this company unless you don't mid being used.

    Advice to Management

Back off. Take a real look at the company and quit being a coward for the sake of a job. Treat others the way you want to be treated. This store was good before Danny took over and made such rapid expansion....where did all that money come from? His father would be appalled and what he has done. It may be "family" owned but it is cooporate run. Welcome to Wal-Mart.
