Working environment,
Team/Family atmosphere,
The level of competence and comradery between employees.

Cons

The bureaucracy and redundancy of the simplification system,
Shifts with little down time between (closing, then opening a department).

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The best advice I can give is to listen to your employees need to advance within the company. It may not always be best for them or for the department to grant it, but when you lend an ear to their desires they will be better employees for, because they will feel valued, appreciated, and heard.

I have been working at Wegmans

    Pros

I currently work as a cashier in a store in the Rochester area

Pros: Very Flexible in terms of scheduling...I currently work another part time job during the day, and they have been very good in working with me
Lots of room for growth: If you want, it's pretty easy to transfer to another department

    Cons

Cons: Management...Because the front end is typically the first place that a manager will start out at, management will change every 6 months or so, which can get stressful because it's at times unclear who to report to.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have better communication between the managers and the front end employees. On a positive note, continue to encourage employees to seek out other opportunities within the company.

Don't look for backup while trying to enforce store policies

    I worked at Wegmans

    Pros

    Good pay
    Flexible hours
Work with college students/ good student program

    Cons

    Incompetent Managers
Managers will not back up employees who are just trying to enforce store rules, they instantly cave to customers and make you look like you don't know how to do your job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Back your employees up. It does not make us feel like were doing our job if you instantly cave to customers while telling us to ALWAYS enforce policies the day or even hours before.
