Weight Watchers – “Great brand but not a great place to work

Nov 4, 2008

1.0

Weight Watchers Vice President in New York, NY:   (Current Employee)

Pros

It is an amazing brand and the premise of the company is something you can really stand behind. It is all about understanding the scince of weight loss and helping people become successful at losing weight. The goal is making people succesful and capitalizing on the viral nature of that success.

Cons

It is an incredibly political organization which is not well run. Decisions are not based on what is best for the company or the business. Rather, decisions are made based on what a few, out-of-touch execs feel is in vogue. Also lacking is discipline in delivery. Every project I work on is late and reduced significantly without regard for the customer. Lastly, the culture is one whereby saying yes and doing what a couple of key execs want is the basis of success and not the focus on the customer or the impact to the business.

Advice to Senior Management

There needs to be a fundamental change in the culture. Right now, the level of politics and dysfunction i negatively impacting the business. And sadly, no one cares
