Former Employee – worked at Weight Watchers part-time for less than a year
Pros – Hard working leaders and receptionists
Delightful group of members iin a very supportive environment
WW Program and its scientific foundation
Cons – Unprofessional, poorly trained, inept territory managers who would be an embarrassment to any organization
Poor pay and unreasonable expectations for field staff
Outdated systems and procedures of field staff
Pushing WW products that are processed foods -- goes against the healthy eating message that WW purports
Advice to Senior Management – Any company who trades on a major stock exchange like WW should be professionally run and held more accountable than it is at present = unsustainable business model. Regarding the field staff that WW relies on, procedures and tools are outdated and if not upgraded will eventually spell doom for this company. The current WW field staff who are mainly baby boomers will eventually decide they have had enough of the schlepping and stop working which will leave a big hole in staffing as the younger generation will not put up with the archaic systems and procedures along with the expectations of management to work for low pay and put up with ineffective communications and leadership. Senior management needs to get out in the field and see what really goes on (I have never seen one senior manager in the field in 4 years as a member) and hire mature professional territory managers, not immature, inexperienced people who have no business being in this role.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
