Pros

The firm has a great reputation nationally. Many of the partners are great litigators. Can gain a lot of experience in court, etc... as opposed to other law firms. People are generally pretty nice. The salary is competitive. There are a lot of opportunities for growth.

Cons

There is no work/life balance. The partners' actions do no suggest they consider it a priority although they do state it is a priority. The problem seems to be in the rapid turnaround of mid level and senior associates. There just aren't enough mid to senior level associates to do the work. The reason seems to be that Weil does not offer any alternative working arrangements (non-partner ship track, less hours, part time....). Or, even if they offer it, there are very negative consequences to choosing such a track. Its too bad because otherwise, it is a very good place to work.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Think about alternative career paths to retain talented senior associates

    Pros

A large company with a great social enviroment. The matter in how the departments are segragated based on "purpose" creates a specific focus for the employer, and allows the company to perform in a very productive and efficient matter. Your role is specific to the department which allows that department to focus on its goals, creating a more of "non-doing what your job title isn't" type of work.

    Cons

Information sharing could be improved between personnel.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow for more information sharing, rather then technilogical, encourage it.

    Pros

good salary; opportunity to contribute if you want and ability to get involved; transferrable skills; opportunities for development; some good social activities

    Cons

people out for themselves, no real feel of teamwork; facetime needed and long working hours; work at lower level often very tedious; felt a bit like a gossipy high school at times

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

there's nothing the management can really do about working culture it's about the people that work there; maybe a better work-life balance would produce a more cohesive team
