I worked at WellPoint full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

local associates were great to work with and it felt like a family that cared for the work they were doing

Cons

too much outsourcing and loss of jobs. no fair recourse to upgrade within or change and learn new positions. no job stability.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

stop outsourcing and try reeducating those you have. you are selling out domestic work.

    Pros

    flexible hours, good benefits, loyal co-workers

    Cons

    always looking to cut cost -on the average employee, even sending your job overseas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Don't always think that by sending jobs to foreign contries that you are getting the most bang for your buck. You have several dedicated employees who are loyal but are willing to put them on the unemplyment line just to improve the shareholders return by $.01.

    I have been working at WellPoint full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    -Flexible hours

    -Telecommuting available to many employees, though some people are beginning to view this as a negative

    Cons

    -Extremely disorganized with constant changes in leadership and direction

    -VP level and above is disconnected from front-line employees and day to day operations

    -Projects seem to lack planning and are dropped before completion

    -Very large amount of work is outsourced

    -Very few opportunities for training and professional growth

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    I have worked at WellPoint for 12 years and the company seems beyond help at this point. Employee morale is very low and management doesn't seem to understand this. I feel that if I remain at WellPoint much longer I will become less marketable to other employers.
