Nurse Care Manager RN

Registered Nurse Care Manager (Former Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I worked at WellPoint full-time for more than a year

ProsAbility to work from home, good education in house, great nurses and leads. Decent pay and benefits. The exception is the health insurance options. The employees should receive the option of the highest and best insurance coverage.

ConsMicro-managed, downsizing, poor rating system on job performance, only beneficial to people who want education and assistance with managing illness. Quantity is more important than quality. It didn't use to be this way. use to be disability friendly but company doesn't work with disabled issues for workers as much as they should. Glorified telemarketers. Poor communication from management. To many non pertinent e-mails.

Advice to Senior ManagementLet nurses be nurses and decide what is most pertinent for the patient needs and concerns. Not your numbers. Allow employees to take breaks as needed without setting break times. Nurses schedule calls and should be able to schedule breaks and lunch in order to reach the clients.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

The best and brightest have hightailed it out (for good reason!)

Program Manager (Former Employee)
Mason, OH

I worked at WellPoint full-time for more than 10 years

Pros: * Support of work-at-home arrangements * Access to online tools and… Cons: * Mediocre leadership with lackluster vision (middle to upper managment)-- complete lack of critical thinking or analysis skills * Many jobs (medical management, IT, QI, etc)… Advice to Senior Management: Take a close look at the gap between executive leadership and front-line associates--senior directors and VPs are very much out of touch with the actual… No, I would not recommend this company to a friend More
