I worked at WellPoint full-time for less than a year

Pros

Health insurance for employees comes in handy.

Cons

Hr doesn't care about employees and protects crappy managers.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should care and treat your employees better at the end of the day they're representing you. Also adding on to ones work load without an increase in hourly pay is unacceptable.
It's very nice to have a rep that is capable of doing work for different departments without paying them more right smh!

    I have been working at WellPoint full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Large, Fortune 40 company. Good Member base means that WellPoint's business will remain fairly solid.

    Cons

    Slow moving and big makes WellPoint a ship that takes a long time to turn. In this new market with Health Exchanges becoming the norm, WellPoint will struggle to keep up with the fast moving changes that are happening.

    Formulate a long range plan and put it into action.

    Pros

    Cash flow positive employer with good benefits

    Cons

    With the constant downsizing, the remaining staff are overworked. California employees are the step-children of the Ohio and Indiana team and are required to work many hours while the other states have work life balance

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    you pay for what you get. California employees do earn more due to cost of living, however the competitive market schools and education result in highly trained people that are typically not replicated in the other states where WellPoint is present.
