Pros

The benefits are awesome, lots of PTO, and it is the most diverse company I have ever worked for.

Cons

Since it is an insurance company, changes to company policy are happening all the time to keep up with legislative changes. This can be a bit overwhelming at times.

Advice to Management

Communicate with subordinates regulary to let them know "what's in it for me".

    Pros

Some very dedicated intelligent motivated people work at WellPoint.

    Cons

The integration of WellPoint and Amerigroup is not complete. This gives rise to multiple problems in any project which covers both markets.

    Advice to Management

Stop looking for solutions that are not there. You need to take your 30 thousand foot view down to 10 feet. That is where the work is either being completed correctly or not getting done. Take personal responsibility in untangling your own complicated business flow patterns instead of creating complicated work arounds, that result in high frustration levels and inferior job performance.

    Pros

Benefits are decent, although there have been significant negative changes since Obamacare became law. You get weekends off. People you work with are generally nice. It used to be a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

Pay is less than what should be expected considering the skills and performance that are required from employees. Annual increases NEVER keep up with the rate if inflation. There is a bonus system that rewards you based on how well you can kiss corporate butt. Mid level management is constantly running around in circles implementing the latest policy according to the fad of the month. If you don't like the policy this week, just wait until next week. You will be micromanaged from the instant you walk in the door in the morning until you leave in the afternoon. There is ZERO job security, as they are constantly outsourcing jobs of increasing complexity to the Philippines and to India.

    Advice to Management

Stop micromanaging every detail of the employees day. It tells them that you do not trust them to make intelligent decisions. Stop the constant threat of outsourcing. It is very demoralizing to work at a place where you watch groups of people get called into a conference room, handed exit papers, and then escorted out of the building after cleaning personal belongings from their desks or work areas.
