I have been working at Wells Fargo

Pros

This is one of the most ethical retail banks there is. They have a great company history and it's influence reaches into almost every conceivable sector of finance, i.e. retail banking, commercial banking, brokerage services, estate planning, etc...

Cons

The quickest way to get promoted is not necessarily being the most knowledgeable about your line of business, but getting "solutions." This can be rather aggravating when you see someone getting a promotion because they lack any moral standards and push products onto anyone they can.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

The quickest way to get promoted is not necessarily being the most knowledgeable about your line of business, but producing solutions. This lack of morality might not be as evident when working as a teller or personal banker, but it will show eventually. Management needs to realize that solutions, alone, is not what makes Wells Fargo a great company. Store managers should push back on District and Regional Management when being pushed about solutions.

I have been working at Wells Fargo

    Pros

Upwardly mobile; they prefer their management to come up from the teller line (not upper mgmt though, they are still stamped out with an MBA from How To Wear A Business Suit University), and they pay better than any other bank in the state, as far as base salary.

    Cons

Benefits packages, the PPO is available but prohibitively expensive, so most are on and HRA or HSA plan.
Relentless in solicitation of customers for 3rd and 4th checking accounts as well as widget products like online banking, bill pay and debit card overdraft service

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wells Fargo will never fail or be bought out because they are very conservative on lending, they will never have a bad portfolio of loans to bring it down.
It can be prohibitively hard for normal (employed, but not high value) to maintain a fee free relationship with WF. in good economic times that can be overlooked, but in the current market it is just as easy to say, "screw you, WF, I'm going elsewhere for a free checking account."

I have been working at Wells Fargo

    Pros

    Great opportunity for advancement.
    Incentives available for applicable candidates.
    Mostly good people.
    Fun job, lots of interactions.
    Corporate recognition.
    Promotions from within.

    Cons

Im always striving to make more money at whatever I'm doing-
There arnt many cons, apart from maybe a little lacking in the procedural training of employees within certain regards.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Communication is the key, clearly communicating between team members will create an overall, better workplace (better in the sense that it will be more fun, effective and productive).
