I have been working at Wells Fargo part-time (more than a year)

Pros

Good hours, good pay, great benefits. Usually fosters a positive work environment. Stay away from retail though, I hear its pretty miserable.

Cons

Still corporate. Can be a lot of dumb procedures or things not very clear to follow. Managers can sometimes not be aware on what your job actually entails.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on encouraging managers to be more involved on a personal level and less constrained to their office.

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

There were no pros. They want you to cheat on your numbers and open accounts and credit for people without them knowing it, which you can personally get into alot of trouble for.

    Cons

They have no regards for your family, period. They are all about business and their numbers. You are just a scripted machine to them. I liken it to a cult mentality. Also, they will not work with military spouse schedules at all. They do not care if your spouse is deploying, if your on the schedule, you better be there even though the military is very last minute. I will never recommend anyone work here, nor do banking.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have a heart. Be loyal to your employees and they will be loyal to you.

Waste of time in pursuing a career within the company in "Retail Banking"

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They will treat you well if you and your manager are best friends, and as long as your manager has a great relationship with your District Manager you may have a shot at moving up. If you are in this job, don't expect to move up quickly or for any amount of sales to be enough, instead seek to learn all that you can relating to banking and finance as a whole, this will give you more success in the industry both in banking and in finance as a whole. The "Wells Fargo" on your resume is sadly more important and will help you find a better job in the industry than your actual work will inside the retail banking end of the company.

    Cons

This is a heavy sales driven environment and pay does not come close to satisfying the amount of time, hard work, and sales performance which is achieved (by any good banker). Even if you are the top producing banker in the branch they will always ask you to do more and more because "you're almost there, your just not good enough yet". They will dangle what ever you want in front of your face and say "it's so easy, you can get to it, and when you get it you'll be able to move up". Unfortunately, once you achieve what they ask of you, they only extend the mark further and further and time and time again when you make it, they will only extend it further once more. Furthermore, there are no amounts of sales which will ultimately promote you, your promotion is held by your District Manager, and if you Manager does not get along with your DM then you should transfer to a branch where you have that opportunity.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

My advice to management would be to simply provide a work atmosphere and expectation that their employees can TRULY AND HONESTLY make for your employee. Do not promise or mislead them into an expectation which is not true, and if you think your banker is doing well and is working hard, then keep them by giving them a monetary promotion, not a candy bar.
