Wells Fargo – “Sales First, Customer Service Second

Jun 2, 2009

3.0

Wells Fargo Teller in South Bend, IN:   (Current Employee)

Pros

- GREAT benefits
- Opportunities for growth across company, if you excel
- Strong bank, even in today's economy
- Generous paid time off (20 days/year, can rollover days)

Cons

- Intense sales focus each day creates tension and stress for team members
- "Grunt" workers must excel at sales and have good luck with random customer service surveys in order to advance--sales are valued above all else for promotion at banking branch level
- Micromanagement

Advice to Senior Management

Matching employees and experience to positions in which their skills would be best utilized would help everyone. Let up on the sales focus and care about customers and their lives--this will lead to uncovering needs more than pushing products. This is what the company seeks to do, but on the day to day level not all employees are truly following the Wells Fargo way in this regard.
