Current Employee - Personal Banker I (SAFE) in Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Wells Fargo full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Wells Fargo has the best banker training in the banking industry, and has the best reputation of promoting internally if you can exceed your goals. Even if you have no prior banking experience, Wells Fargo provides over 3 weeks worth of training you. They provide great sales training. There is no other bank that will promote their employees as aggressively as this bank.

    Cons

Wells Fargo does pay and train their employees well; however, they pay the lowest in the industry in both salary and commission, which is almost impossible to attain. They set very high goals for all bankers, tellers, and managers. Going to work everyday is like going to"war." Every banker must hit a certain number of accounts opened, products sold, and profit per day. Also, every banker in the store is fighting each other for the same customers, fighting the Wells Fargo branch across and down the street. On top of that you have other banks that you are contending against. Regardless of how slow the branch is, you have to hit your numbers. Stress starts at 9 till 6 and never stops. Be prepared to eat, sleep, and LIVE Wells Fargo!

I worked at Wells Fargo as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    Excellent perks and employee appreciation.

    Cons

Completely disorganized and wasteful of resources. No clear boss = no clear direction. Many conflicts with different instruction from team members.
