Not a bad place to work, but many employees leave for other insurance companies.

I have been working at West Bend Mutual full-time (more than a year)

Pros

-It has a casual work environment - jeans, T-shirts, etc.
-Somewhat flexible with work hours
-Bonus system that rewards employees for company's performance

Cons

-Pay seems largely determined by how long an employee has been with the company rather than how well he does his job.
-I suspect that the above mentioned bonus system may be artificially inflated earlier in year so that the bonus can be used as a carrot to employees. The amount of the bonus implicitly promised by management seems to never be achieved.

I have been working at West Bend Mutual

    Pros

Good Benefits, nice buildings. Free coffee and soda and tea, Friendly staff in facilities and the cafeteria. Inexpensive meals and monthly "Treat Days" with a free treat given.

    Cons

Clueless management, employees getting demoted, fired, overworked. unreasonable demands.
Praise and encouragement are now only given to try to get you to work more hours - insincerely.
Employees are afraid to say anything or object to changes - or they'll be out the door. No respect for experience. Very short-sighted management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get rid of the CIO and IT managers - start over with some people who have a soul and conscience.
Listen, really listen to what employees have to say, and let them give feedback without worrying about losing their job over it.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Disapproves of CEO
