I have been working at West Virginia Division of Corrections full-time (less than a year)

Pros

Benifits, job stability and good co workers

Cons

The state salary sucks! There is alot of turn over and most of the turn over goes back to the salary offered.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to have better retention then you need to increase the salary.

I have been working at West Virginia Division of Corrections full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

I have a hard time thinking of anything besides its always going to be there.

    Cons

The state workers need paid better with better insurance. It's not hardly worth getting up everyday to go yo work there when you know you can make most as much basically anywhere.

I have been working at West Virginia Division of Corrections full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Easy to get hired.
    Great training programs.
    Lot of overtime.

    Cons

The pay is not nearly enough considering how dangerous the job is.
Promotions are based off of the "buddy system".......if you are one of their buddies, they will feed you the interview questions the day before the interview.
